Quiet Water Kayaking
Winter’s beauty has stepped aside for spring. Ice out is history, the last of the snow has melted and our thoughts have moved to lazy summer days in the beautiful outdoors. The Lake Sunapee Region of New Hampshire abounds in quiet waterways, marshes and lakes that offer ideal opportunities for kayakers.
An early morning paddle at Danbury Bog is sure to reward you with glimpses of wildlife native to the area. A picnic on one of the many islands of Grafton Pond is the perfect way to pass a sunny afternoon. Bring your swim suit to Pleasant Lake and jump off the big rock on Blueberry Island. These favorite haunts of locals are just a few gems that the area has to offer.
For those without kayaks, there are opportunities for rentals including on the Contoocook River where you are transported upriver to paddle down. You will be transformed to your childhood days as you picnic at a little beach and swing from a rope high in the treetops into the water. Lake Sunapee State Beach is also a spot to rent a kayak to explore the shoreline of pristine Lake Sunapee.
